 The Local Area

Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Glebe is lucky enough to have both hilltops and headlands on her doorstep. Step outside and you will be pleasantly rewarded by the richly diverse East Devon countryside, an area largely unspoiled and off the well trodden track.

Only 3 miles down the road is the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site with its terracotta and cream colored cliffs that give way to remote under-cliff beaches on a long untamed coastline. From here you can take a picnic and explore sections of the famous South West Coastal Path. If you’re feeling adventurous, take a boat out and try mackerel fishing or snorkel low reefs and rock pools to see crabs and starfish off picturesque fishing villages Beer and Branscombe.

Inland, roam through the ancient woodlands and marvel at medieval hill-forts. Find the largest tree in the southwest in Shute woods and explore majestic forests in the Iron Age hillfort Blackbury Camp.

On a rainy day, have a potter around seaside town of Lyme Regis, with excellent restaurants, galleries and independent craft shops to while away an afternoon.

There is a reason that they say ‘Devon is heaven’ and we look forward to showing you why.
